2026 Elaine Reid Scholarship Application
In 2015 the Oakland Mills Fine Arts Boosters created this scholarship to honor the retiring OMHS Assistant Principal, Elaine Reid. Mrs. Reid was a champion for the performing arts students and directors with steadfast support of their programs and performances.
The OMHS Fine Arts Boosters Elaine Reid Scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to an Oakland Mills High School senior who has been a member of the OMHS Performing Arts program and who has formally committed to a college or university for the Fall of 2026. This scholarship is awarded on a basis of excellence in performance, commitment and service to the performing arts programs at Oakland Mills High School, and academic dedication. The applicant must be in good standing at Oakland Mills High School.
Completed applications will be judged by a committee composed of members of the Oakland Mills community who strongly value the Fine Arts and have supported the Fine Arts Boosters. To ensure fairness, applications will be reviewed blindly.
COMPLETED APPLICATION PACKETS INCLUDE:

_____ TWO sealed CONFIDENTIAL Evaluations (preferable both from Performing Arts Teachers/Instructors) ~ PRIMARY EVALUATION - One evaluation MUST be from your PRIMARY OMHS PERFORMING ARTS DIRECTOR.
~ SECONDARY EVALUATION - A second evaluation can be from a community member, private instructor, or OMHS teacher who knows about and can speak to your commitment to the performing arts.
______ STUDENT ESSAY
Select one memory from your time at Oakland Mills High School that had an impact on your personal trajectory and desire to pursue higher education. Share why and how this memory played a part in that decision.
~ Please be specific and thorough.
~ All essays must be typed. Times New Roman, 12 point font. Double spaced. ~ Essays should be no longer than two pages, but more than one.
SUBMIT YOUR COMPLETE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PACKET TO OMHS Guidance Office LABELED “OMHS FINE ARTS BOOSTER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION” BY April 24th, 2026.
LATE OR INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
THE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE SENIOR AWARDS CEREMONY.
Upon being selected as the scholarship winner, the recipient of the FAB Scholarship must provide documentation proving that the recipient has committed to attending the stated school for the 2026 Fall semester. Money will be awarded to the student upon the FAB Executive Board receiving the documentation requested.
